about how big is it? brown recluses are quite small.

i don't think so, loxosceles sp. tends to have a more pointy abdomen than this but i'm not truly certain. Don't take chances, man !!

I am real knowledgable on spiders as a whole. However, about a year ago, I purchased a house that had been vacant for several months, and became very, very familiar with recluses. Found over 100 live recluses before bombing the place multiple times. I agree with the poster who said the abdomen does not resemble that of a recluse. This spider seems to be much 'fatter' than any recluse I have seen. If by chance it is a recluse, it will have a dark brown 'violin' shape on it's front section. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, I meant to say that I am 'not' real knowledgable on spiders as a whole. One more thing - if it does happen to be a recluse, which is doesn't look like it is, then make sure to spray or bomb the area where you found him, because there are others near by.

looks like a Brown Recluse and the end doesnt have to be pointy the young ones are maily pointy i was bitten by a pretty big on while in the army in S.C. and the spider had babies all over its back if there healthy the back end will be round http://www.spiderroom.info/content/brownrecluse1x.jpg
