That has been one of the questions that I have been asking. I found him at a local shelter and both the shelter vet and my vet says he is a Russian Blue. He definitely has the characteristics including the mauve footpads, the silver-tipped double fur that feels like velvet. His eyes are still changing color. In the sunlight they look a yellowish green but in the regular light they are definitely green-green. It is my understanding that it can take the eyes as long as 2 years to turn to that deep green. I just could not believe that someone would put a full-blooded Russian Blue into a shelter. I have been told that cases like his are not impossible though. Russian Blues are quite frisky and lively and may have been just too much for someone. He was 9 weeks old when he was put into the shelter.

I rescued Boris from the animal shelter. Both the animal shelter vet and my vet considers him a russian blue through and through. However, his facial features are not quite like the pictures that I have seen- his face is not as wedge-shaped as some but he looks just like some other pictures that I have seen. I do love his personality though and if his personality is a russian blue trait, then I would definitely get a russian blue.
