This is one of my most recent rack designs, using Zellers underbed storage boxes. The trays hang by their lips. The rack is 5 feet tall, by 3 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It holds 9 pair of snakes for 18 charges in a compact space.
My room is heated but supplemental heat tape is provided under trays holding gravid boids only. for nesting colubrids, I simply slide in a tray full of moist sphagnum moss, and put a piece of plastic over the screen to hold the moisture in..simple!!
Wheels have been added to ease movement of the unit. Brumation fo temperate species like colubrids and rosy boas is easily done by simply wheeling the entire unit into the hibernation room next door.
