No, it looks most like a western widow (L. hesperus) going by the shape of the hourglass. "black widow" is a misnomer really as they don't always have to be black. Some 'black widows' are a brown or brownish-black color while others are very black and some may retain traces of the juvenile red/white markings as adults. Brown widows (L. geometricus) are not always brown either...some may be gray!

I completely concur with previous comment. This could also be Latrodectus geometicus (Fabricius), the brown widow. Color brownish with white and black brown markings, abdomen with red hourglass mark, legs banded/ringed; occurs only in southern Florida.

Hmm...I wonder if there are any black/brown widows native to VA?
