What zoo did he borrow a breeder from; Or was it just luck? Tell us the story, I'm curious.
Thanks,

Ive seen a few white gators but if i remember right they arent albino. they are in new orleans at the audabon zoo and the audabon aquarium. they have a few there at the zoo and one at the aquarium. they were about 7 footers. all from the same nest found in a swamp.

The story behind the little guy is that he and his siblings were collectted in the wild by an egg collector in texas. The gator farmer collect eggs and then hatch them releasing a portion back into the wild. Evidently ther is an albino gene pool of them seeing they have been hatched in two separate years. He and another one are currently being raised by a gator farmer and are ding well so far. These are true albino's and not leucistic like the ones in New Orleans zoo.

Baby alligators are fairly delicate and the albino's are a little more so. But now he is growing feeding and doing well.

Actually, THAT one didn't live. It was donated to the Houston zoo, and they killed it in about a day. Par for the course. The ones produced two years later were the ones to survive, and those remained in private hands. It is illegal to release gators back to the wild in Texas - that is LA law. None of those siblings were released to the wild.
