Hi again, this iguana was the second iguana that i bought, the first one was a real jerk, so I returned him for this one, I believe that any animal that is mean or nice when you first go to buy them as a baby or as an adult is the way there going to be for the rest of there life. This iguana has always been really nice since day one,I dont believe they ever tame down or ever get nicer for that matter,I think the owner just learns how to handle them without getting whiped or bit which makes us think that were actually tameing them down, but were not. Its simply the anmials temperment from the day you buy them, the first thing I did when I bought him was this... when I was at the reptile store, I went up to the iguana enclosure where all the baby iguanas were, I put my hand in and all the iguanas that ran away or whiped were not the ones that I wanted to buy. The one that I did buy did not run away and was obviously not afraid to be handled , he was the one that I picked.

What i meant was if you offer mealworms or mice once in a while. I give Buddy about 1 or 2 every other day, and last time my mice had babies i fed him a pinkie and he loves them. I have a book that supports doing this no more than once a wk. 5% by weight is the most.

I dont feed him anything but veggies, when he was little, I fed him monkey biscutis from time to time with his meals, but I dont feed him any meat, besides wet dog food and thats on vary special occasions, when he is looking thin in the base of his tail and thats not to often. Im finding out that he doesent eat as much now. I think its because his metabolism is slowing down now that hes an adult, I tried to take more pics of him today but my camera is not working. thanks carlos

I would not feed a animial that is a vegetarian any meat unless the animal was under weight or sick. The iguana books that they have in the pet stores are sometimes missleading, I suggest that you stick with vitiams for your lizard and use your best judgement... please DO NOT FEED YOUR ANIMAL THAT IS A HERBIVORE ANY MEAT PRODUCTS AT ALL UNLESS HE IS UNDER WEIGHT OR IS SICK. Its bad for your lizards kidneys and he could get gout from all that protien over a long period of time. thanks carlos

Hey dude that is a very nice looking iguana and I have seen both pics great job with him. As for the pinkie and fuzzy idea for iguana meals supported by the other guy. I agree with you on this. My little iguana Samson is 11 months old now and mainly feed him an assortment of veggies and fruit and is quite healty. I have pic on here of him if you wouldn't mind checking it out and giving me your opinion I appreciate it. And again that is a nice iguana.

I never fed buddy any meat at all until a few months ago. I bought the book, they said juv. to sub-adult iguanas do eat a little meat in the wild. My mouse has a litter once a month, i give buddy one and the rest go to the basilisks. Buddy gets 3 or 4 mealworms maybe 3 times a week. Iguanas in the wild probably eat more than that accidentally from insects hiding in the food they eat. You can reply me your opinion.

well, ive read that too and thats very contrivisral. maybe they do eat a little meat in the wild but I wouldent feed them any. thats just my opinion, this iguana is huge and hes never ate meat. Im no sicentist so i really dont know if they eat meat in the wild, mabe they do, but they do great without it as you can see. thanks carlos
