Tokay Gecko

cody my male tokay gecko tried to get my male 6 foot iguana through the tank once when he was about 7 inches he's 15 inches now and wont hurt a flea take a look at some of my pics i have of him if you start holdin your tokay and not showing any fear twards it it will become more tolerant of you and dude you gotta put some branches and at least a 45 watt light in the for him if you dont already

Yea, thanks, I actually have a bunch of branches in it, and a light on the top of the cage, but I had to take them out to take the picture :) It is in a huge cage too! Thanks for the advice!

i dont want to nag or anything but i was just looking to get a tokay gecko and they say to have a more natural ground. just thought i should let you know

actually what he's using is alot better than any naturmal loose substrate, the substarte looks like astroturf its not loose to it decreases the chance of the tokays becoming impacted

what do you mean by the tokay can become impacted?

they will ingest any loose substrate while going for their prey..the loose substrate isnt digestable so they will eventually die...what it des is..it blocks the digestive system it cramps it..and the tokay would eat and not be able to digest it's food therefor the food sits in the tokays belly causing the tokay to die the safest loose substrate to use would be wood chips because their bigger and the tokay will spit them out.

ok thats good because im using untreated cypress mulch which is preety big chunks. so i should be ok?

hey tokaydude i have a ? for you about sex. i just got my tokay and its about 6-8 inches long. its got 2 pores after the vent and idk how to tell if it is a male or female. my friend has a tokay thats about 10 inches long and hishas like 20 little pores before the vent in a "V" shape kinda. i was wondering if we had 2 diffrent sex's

well..it sounds like its still a juvi look for a "V" shaped row of pores with little dots in them with a magnifying glass then you have a male if now..then its obviously a female
