I give this pic a one because I am a snake lover, especially a python lover, and I hate when pics like this get posted on the web, it just leads to more fear and missunderstanding .We intruded in on there territory and we made our selves a potential, food sorce. Its how the world goes round and when one human dies hundreds of snakes get killed. The python killed for survival, humans kill to make a purse or a coat. Sorry to be so dramtic just had to get it outta my system.

Jay,i think the exact same things.I also being a snake enthusiast, pythons being my favorite of all times.people should not intrude in their territory at all,and leave them be.i wouldnever wear snake or reptile skin clothes or have purses or anything like that, and yeah they do kill to survve, they dont know any better than,"oh its food i can eat that and live another day"but yeah i agree with everything ya say, good post dude.

well all i have to say is it is fake. if this is a red tail boa anyways. there is no way a red tail could eat a adult man. just not happening. and i think anyone who has owned these snake knows this. the only snake that could maby do that is a full grown very big retic. and that snake is not long enoughth to be a full grown retic. and certinly doesn't have enoughth girth to eat a man. pics like this get out on the internet all the time and they are all ussually fake

it may not have been a full-grown adult..

it does not have the same pattern or colore of an anaconda. but people will belive what they want. but for the people who belive this obviously don't know much about snakes and havn't been working with them for very long or done much research at all.

Yup it's a retic and if I remember correctly it was also poved to be fake. If you look at the size of the snakes head I personally don't think it could have taken an adult human.

For what it is worth, nothing more nothing less. A snake that size could indeed have eaten a human. It IS a reticulated python, and the picture is in the Phillipines/Indonesia/Thailand area. The people are much smaller there, than we as Americans are. The other thing that most of you have never done is absolutely found a snake's max prey swallowing capability. You have just taken the text book answer of "as wide as it's girth", and made that the god given truth. Snakes like that(retics/rocks/burms/anacondas/large red-tails), by nature, are opportunistic feeders. If it is there, they will eat it...or at least give it their best shot. Had no one found this snake(and the man inside) that would have been one happy retic, sitting in seclusion for the next 6 months living of it's last kill. I agree with you guys on the fact that this is a PET site, no doubts there, and the pics should be our own CAPTIVE BRED animals, that are happy and healthy. I also agree that this pic should have been posted elsewhere. SNAKELOVER143.....go for marine biology for now, but keep studying your reptiles and their info. The picture is real, and there is a true story behind it. If you still doubt there are plenty more cases we can show you. Out of curiousity...have you ever seen a full grown red-tail in the wild? They can and do get a lot bigger than you gave them credit for. MOOSEHUNTER....type in anaconda on your interent search option, and take a GOOD look at the pictures. I'm not out to piss anyone off, but like dude said, things like this just DON'T HAPPEN IN NEW YORK. Let's broaden our horizons before we pull the "I am god" card. If you don't have the answer, or you doubt the one given...look for the answer. Read a book, travel, get out.

LIZARD. Thank you. That post about it being a redtail really pulled me the wrong way, I just did not know how to say it without being REALLY rude. That is a retic without a doubt. I keep Ball Pythons and know VERY little about retics, but I know a retic when I see one. Maybe MARINE BIOLOGY is a better field of study for the SNAKELOVER.

I really dont care if its real or not, But I know a retic could eat a human. I have seen retics on the discovery channel hunt down and eat big goats, horns and all. Its pretty wild to see... What i wonder is if the snake hunted this guy or if the people in the village got sick of this guy, knocked him out, and fed him to the snake.. I wish i could feed my boss to a retic...

Yes this is a Retic however it did not eat a human. If you look at the size and shape of the lump in it, I would say it is a "PIG" not a human. If it was a human the lump would taper more at one end. Also that is a pig farmers truck the retic is in. I have been told this is the type of truck they use in Indonesia.
There are a lot of picture like this one on the internet however I think all of them are fake. Most of the pictures are staged and the humans are alive and the retics are dead. I even have one saved that shows a man being swallow head first but like I said the retic is dead and the man is the one that is alive. There are some sick people out there that just like to do this stuff for the shock value.
Take care,
Tom

I agree with Python_Jay! And I'm sure that is a reticulated python! Hovewer... I agree with McCarthyBoas too, beacuse I'm think the python ate not a human but a pig...
