What a pretty baby you have! :) How old is he? Wonderful coloring and looks quite content to sit there all day :)

samson is now 13 months old. He is pretty tame but can still be jumpy at times. But he is getting out of that.....thank god.

Luckily Samson has never tried to bite me. He will tongue flick me is all. Now he has tail whipped me but he is getting out of that now that is becoming used to me and knows that I don't intend to harm him.

Well andy is a little mean. I have had stitches from oneof his baby bites. and even when I keep his claws trimmed he gets me pretty good with those too. He has also broken his tail (4 inches taken off by vet) becaus eof tail whipping his cage when I would go to feed him or walk by the cage. So we are looking like hes going to be a handful :) But I love the little guy. Hes a real cuddle bug when he gets calmed down but dont disturb him when hes calm. hehe :)

My nieces's Iguana is like that too, partly because of his small enclosure. Which I am building her one when I build my next one. But I had kept her iguana down here with me for a month and had him calmed down, basically because I handle him/her alot more than she did. How often do you handle him? Just curious. I know iguanas are supposed to be handled daily to keep them from following nature's instincts...which is fear us lol.

Oh lordy all day lol. He even goes to work with me along with my smaller ig. They both love to go to work and bask. Andy gets out for atleast 4 hours a day and rubbed and petted and soaked. :D AND hes in a 30x30x48 inch tall cage. soon to have a larger one. So space isnt the issue I dont think :D What do you think? (you can also e mail me with any suggestions:) kryinkowgirl@yahoo.com)

Basically what I do is when it gets to where Samson is about to big for his cage, but not too big, I build another. His right now 3 foot in length and he is a little over two foot so I am contructing a new home for him. It will be 6'x6'x5' so hopefully he can reside in that one for a little while. Which it works out great cause his old cage becomes the new enclosure for my Chinese Water Dragon, which is cool. As far as him being mean, him still being a juvenile most of that should go away as he gets older and more used to people, but it all depends on the iguana. Also if he is stressed alot he may feel inclined to act out. Iguanas can get stressed rather quickly. Now around years of age, since he is a male, he will be in sexual maturity that is where the major attitude will come from during his breeding season. Over all the best thing any of us with the heart and paitence can do is show constant care and respect.

Great! Hes going to get worse :D I can handle this:) But he really has little reason to stress. He is in the dining room with his lights and he can see and hear us in the den where the TV is. And we talk to him CONSTANTLY when we are in the room. As well as my other ig. He also gets to free roam while the cat is outside. But the cat dosent bother him. Shes quite scared of him:)

I have read and been told by a few that background noise can stress an iguana, t.v., radio etc. But Samson is by the radio and the t.v. and computer and has never shown signs of stress. So I don't know how the background thing is so I don't think that is a problem. It may very well just be the juvenile in him. He's young so in time he could very well become rather docile.

Oh the things we deal with and do for our igs :) Good to know more people look at them as parts of their families and not just a pet :) Mine even have dinner with us.. hehe

It's true they are not hard to spoil. All three of my Lizards are spoiled. Both Iguanas and the Water Dragon. Thurgood is still not sure how to handle someone actually being good to him. And Samson, well Samson is just spoiled period. My Water Dragon Rex is getting pretty spoiled too. No matter what some may say from my observations they love the attention they get and I feel they can become rather loyal. I love the little guys and wouldn't take anything for them. Kinda funny this like a reptile family. I have two Iguanas and a water Dragon, My nephew has three snakes, my niece has two Iguanas and my son wants turtles. We'll have a reptarium soon lol
