This snake was wild caught by a friend 3 years ago. He just recently gave it to me to release it back into the wild. This was the first rattler that I have been around! What a blast!!

That is a Southern. I caught many southerns as a kid growing up in the San Bernardino Valley.

This animal was/is about 5 1/2 feet long and it never struck at me (through glass anyway, I dont know if it was wise to the glass). At it's mid body, I would say as thick as middle fingers and thumbs circled together. Rattled like hell, I wish I had kept the guy but mom didn't want it in the house.
