Morning sun is fine and better than keeping the turtle indoors. A pond heats up quickly, especially a small contained one like the photo, so you wouldn't want direct sun all day anyway and remember to use an aquatic thermometer so he doesn't overheat. Adding aquarium salt will help his fungal infection, as well.
