Keywords: anoles terrarium

This is a terrarium my girlfriend and I just put together about 2 months ago. It houses 3 anoles, 2 tree frogs and a fire belly toad. They all get along great. There many different levels so if they want they can have there own space. The toad stays around the pond the anoles stay in the trees and the tree frogs stay in the middle. Sometimes all of them will be high up to get some heat. Just wanted some opinions. Thanks

Very realistic terrarium. Your animals are lucky to live there!

Your terrarium looks great but I doubt all the animals are doing as well as the other replies suggested that they are. Fire-bellied toads will secrete a toxin when they are threatened and it will contaminate the water source in the cage. Fire-bellied-toads should never be kept with any other amphibian or reptile. Keeping tree frogs and anoles rarely works out either. Tree frogs are nocturnal animals that are very active at night while anoles are diurnal and are active during the day. The two animals will disturb each other when they are resting which will be stressful. Also, many large tree frog species won't hesitate to eat anoles. I'm sure that in the future you will run into problems if you do not seperate all of the different species into different cages. Two months is not a long time, if you haven't lost an animal in a community herp tank in a year or two then you have something successful. For more information about why keeping different species together rarely works well have a look at www.amphibiancare.com/frogs/communitytank.html Good luck, real cool picture too, thanks for sharing it.
