gray rat? black rat? Corn? please help

gray rat? black rat? Corn? please help

Keywords: juvinile rat snake

I was told this was a juvinile gray rat snake by the salesperson at the pet store where i bought it, but it does not look like any of the gray rat pics i have seen.Will someone please tell what kind of snake this is.

Looks like a freaken corn snake to me. Anerythristic or ghost.

No, that looks like Elaphe obsoleta to me. I'm not positive if it's a gray rat, it could be a light colored black rat or maybe an intergrade of some sort? I'm not an expert. But I'm pretty sure that's not a corn snake. Also remember juvenile obsoleta look different from adults.

I could be wrong though. Why'd I even post this.

It is a ghost corn. Look at the head. In all new world Elaphe except corns & fox snakes, they will have a stipe that runs through the eye ( obitals). That is always a good indicator. It is preaty though and will make a great pet, unless you were hoping to breed it, then your screwed.. rock on, blue

That is certainly a ghost corn. Their head shape and general appearance is different than an obsoleta.
