Keywords: baby corn snake

I was told when i bought it at the pet store that this was a gray rat snake, but i think it looks more like a corn snake. Can someone please help me out and tell me what kind of snake this is?

Hey I don't know what state you are from but in some states where it is illegal to sell anything other than snow and regular albino corns pet shop's sell anery type A corns as rat snakes. Most of the time these are snakes that result from a hobbiest breading two snakes either an anery and an amelanistic or two amelanistics with unknown lineage. Since the pet shop can't legaly sell these captive corns they sometimes sell them as ratsnakes (corns are a type of ratsnake). the key is to look at the eyes and also the patern. Though the pattern can be misleading sometimes. Ratsnakes however have grey irises and smaller pupils than corns also the eyes are usually buggier (this is speaking from my experience with my corns and rat snakes that I have caught or seen in pet shops). Last look at the belly if it has no pattern it is a rat snake if it has the typical Indian corn look to it it is definately a cornsnake.

Thank you for all your coments i appreciate them very much. Any new comments will still be gladly excepted by me, please feel free to write more and help me out. However "adamsanity" your post caught my attention, i live in nj and was thinking the same things as you, but my snake has some wierd color to it that I do not know if i could classify as a corn from the pictures i have seen. I would appreiciate it if you could e mail me at kperkins919@aol.com so I can send you some more pictures and discuss a little more with you. thank you

I have a ghost corn that looks similar to this one mine has the indian corn pattern on the belly. She also has a little bit of yellow on the side of her head and down the side of her body about 3 or 4 inches.
