Uh... Isn't it a sign of illness or at least a bad sign when a bird is laying down fully on the ground? That's what I've heard. You might want to make sure not to tire the bird out that much to the point of where they cannot rest on a perch. But I am not an expert. This is just something I would suggest, unless this is a very young bird, that is.

If you guys look at this bird's tail feathers, you can definetely tell this is a baby bird (3-5 mo). When they are that young they sleep like that and it is no sign of illness.
