It isnt a good idea to house a leo of that size on sand. There is a risk of impaction, exp. with a young leo like yours. I suggest using paper towels or slate tiles until it is an adult, and then you can use sand.

Changing out the sand today. Thanks for the help, guess the breeder forgot to tell me somethings. Why do I have to wait for an adult female to grow to the size of a male before I put them together?

If you are talking about breeding your two, then you should let them both be full grown before putting them together. They may never be the same size, but as long as the female is full grown, it should be safe to put her with the male.

The male I have is about 2 yrs and the female is about a year and a half. The baby is in it's own 10 gallon while the male and female are sharing a split (for now until she is bigger) 55 gallon.
