is this an alligator lizard?

Keywords: alligator lizard baby
i found this baby lizard outside while hosing down the sidewalk, i think he may have been hurt by the water. i dont know if its an alligator lizard (i live in coarsegold california just south of yosemite natnl.park)
i dont know how to care for this lizard...what he eats and everything, if anyone knows what he is and what he needs please respond! thanks!

I believe this is a western fence lizard or something very similar.. i live in CA as well and have kept a few before. For the babies I fed them small crickets. Maybe try dusting the crickets every now and then to with something like miner-all or something similar for added nutrition.

Do you plan on keeping this lizard as a pet? If wildlife rehabilitation is your goal then if it no longer appears hurt then release it in a sheltered area. If still hurt then take it to a herp vet (cost is your treat) or find a near by wildlife rehab society (they'll pay for treatment).
If keeping as a pet, then research the heck out of it. Using the internet is great, but NOT a replacement for books and care guides. The more sources you get your information from the better view you will have on what works and what doesn't. During your quest for information, set up an aquarium or cage that closely resembles your outside enviromnent.

It's a Western Fence Lizard. I see the Easterns down at my cabin all the time in the summer. They're pretty cool.
