I love how the hexagonal vivariums look, could you tell me some of the specifics on your cage design, what lighting scheme do you use, and how are oyu venilating the cage, it looks like a standard hexagonal glass aquarium, and I have always wondered how to go about venilating one properly without extreme modification

If you don't mind my asking, about how much did it cost to set that up, and how about how much time did it take?

I've always wanted a real nice viarium like that, but I assume it's too expensive for me right now.

haha, yeah roadrunner, the lights were 96.00, but there are many other things I used. With the lights, plants, hood, glass lid, misting system, and other supplies, it was about $220.00. Vivarium costs can fluxuate quite a lot depending on how many plants you use and how extravegant they are. I used a few orchids which were pricy, but they are looking good and producing lots of new roots. Lights too can be either dirt cheap or cost you an arm and a leg. Bottom line is, you should be able to setup a nice 10 gallon for a pair of dart frogs for around 40 bucks if you shop around. Good luck with everything!

Wow, that's much more reasonable than I had imagined. I set up a little (20gal) low-budget reef a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure it cost me somewhere in the $600 range by the time I finished it. And I've been dumping money into it ever since.

No, its not bad at all. Keep in mind though that I did get the tank and stand from a friend for free, so that knocked off about 80 bucks. Cost for vivariums can vary so much its really up to you. I know thats not how it is with reefs, thats for sure. I love how they look and everything but damn, youll end up paying almost 1000 bucks before its even been setup a year. Once a vivarium is up and running, its virtually maintinance free.
