LOL, leos dont live on sand either, so putting sand in there wouldnt be natural either, they live in and on rocky crevises with dust like sand, finer grade then we could ever make, the setup is perfectly fine they have heat food hides and an owner who loves and takes good care of them, you people really need to think befor you post..my god

That is the ugliest tank setup on the face of the earth. I feel very sorry for your leos. I hate your setup. I agree with Sebris on this.

sand can be a problem for leopards, but if you're careful it doesn't have to be.
I've had the same leopard gecko on sand for the last 9 years and he's as fat as can be. I hand feed him so that he doesn't get a big mouthful of sand, but
it does happen, luckily he passes it in his poop.

he does not need to take anything out..what you need to take out is that long stick up your ass..the setup is fine, they have hides water dish and a feeding dish..heat..humidity..all they need, if the geckos are happy then why take it all out? think people..think

Cykada if i remember correctly you got you leo only a few months ago
leos on sand are not safe, his leos will live a long and happy life in there, where as your leo will probably die sooner a leo kept on papertowel will 100% live longer than leo on sand, sand is in no way natural for them and putting in there tank will stress them out, they live on rocks with dusty sand, not granular sand and hard compacted clay around them, Cykada please research the animals you guy befor buyig them..by research i dont mean read a caresheet or two..fine the best information you can find, you need to strive to give your animals happy lives..putting an animal on somthing its never been on and it not natural for them and stress them out..and they'll eaither die from that..or impaction

Ok Rhachodactylus he posted this pic so that people can tell him what they think of it. It's a fine tank he just needs to take some of that junk out so his leos can have more room. Good god don't have a cow I'm just telling him what I think of it. And how do you know that the leos are happy do you speak lizard? reptile_gal

just be carefull cykada
Reptile...i've read some of your posts..you seem like the "know it all" kind..i have been researching leos for 9 years now, i studied their natural habits and habits in conditions similar to what this setup looks like, the geckos that where kept on sand wher perfectly healthy, and slowing started becoming sluggish and loosing weight, fecals where done, no parasites, my conclusion was stress, leopard geckos raised in captivity have no natural instict to be on sand, where as leopards from the wild would be much more comfortable on rocks with small amounts of sand, i have 15 year experience with reptiles, please dont tell me what i do and dont know

The point here is that to some of us it isn't that great to look at but that doesn't mean you talk crap on someone who obiviously likes what they have done and more importantly loves there animal. This cage isn't my style but in the end it's not my cage. So long as all necessities are met to keep the animals healthy then I say good job because wayyyy too often I see natural enclosure that are dirty and disgusting which at that point doesn't help the animal either!!

Personally I like to keep a natural look, but I'm also not one to diss on someone else's set up! Don't listen to the jack asses, on here. As long as they have their hides, right temp, and someone to love them that's all that matters....you think the Leo's really care what their cage, looks like...It's personal preference, and all that extra stuff, is for YOU... not your Gecko...
