Keywords: Ball Python female 3 year old young small

I've noticed the last little while Jake has been having a little bit of trouble breathing. She's making a slight popping sound when she breathes, and wheezing a little bit. I'm taking her to a vet this week, anyone care to give me a heads up as to what it might be, and how much of a healing process it will be??

It sounds like a respiratory infection. May take a while to heal depends on the animal though! Good luck, I hope he/she gets well!

Yup, sounds like a RI. You need to get that taken care of as soon as possible. Is there any mucus around the mouth/nose? If there is a lot of mucus in the mouth that can be a sign too. These can take a little while to take care of. My bp had one and it took about a month for her to get over. This should not be all that expensive though. You usualy only have to give the snake injections, not much more thatn that. Whats the temp in her enclosure? How humid is it? I hope that she gets better! That is a great looking snake! I have found that bps are fairly tough so you should not have to much to worry about but it is still important to get it taken care of. If you have any questions: kickbooty55@hotmail.com Good luck!!!!

Thanks for the comments guys! That puts me at ease a little bit. I knew that I had to get it looked at ASAP, but I wasn't extremely worried because she doesn't have any mucus, and she's still very alert and stuff. She's right in the middle of a shed cycle right now, I wouldn't be surprized if she's shed when I get home today. As soon as she does, I'll take her in to the vet. I didn't want to disturb her too much while she's shedding.
I'll take another pic of her too because this ones from back in March. She's quite a bit longer now!

Thanks again!

Well, I took her to the vet today. She said it was a little bit of a respiratory problem, but that it wasn't that bad at all. She gave her an injection of Vitamin B, and Baytril, and then gave me a little bottle of Baytril to give to her over the next couple weeks. Everything should be fine.

Oh, and I got her weighed for the first time since I've owned her. 560 grams.

Okay, one more question.. (I love getting tips from all you experienced herps out there!).

I have to give the medicine to Jake orally. She's head shy. What's the least stressful way for her and me??
