That tank is big enough. What's wrong with paper towels?? They are much safer than sand. He has a hide box and waterbowl and a calcium dish in the back left corner, so if u ask me, he out all its needs... Great enclouser.~

When I read this post I laughed. Paper towles is an excellent substrate. Very safe, sterile, and easy to clean. I am sure when someone thinks natural they think of...what sand? Well sand is by NO MEANS natural for leos. They do not live in rolling sand dunes. They live in rocky crevices. Im not pointing fingers here, just a word of advice.

Cykada..you make me laugh..are you a comedian? this is probably the best kind of setup a leo should have if the leo is a CB it doesnt know what its real habitate looks like..think child think! they live on rocks not sand..do your research and then tell this person how this animal should live having a natural setup is fine if your using papertowels as a substrate..like me my leo setup is natural but substrate is papertowels..sand kills..any expirienced(sp)? herper knows that..maybe when you learn a thing ot two, then maybe you can state your opinions..just doesnt look like your ready yet..

I've never kept leo's, but i have kept various pythons and they are all kept on newspaper or bath towels. They do great.

My advice is if you want to keep more than a few animals, and you want it to be easy to keep them healthy, keep their enclosures simple. If not, it can be a royal pain in the arse to try and clean them every few days.

And.. Don't come on professing your expertise, and then spell and write like you've never seen the inside of an english class.

(also from canada... brantford ONT.) keep up the nice cage

The cage is as basic as u can get, which is a good thing. He even put a moist hide in there, so the leo can have ease of shedding, that is one thing a lot of leo keepers don't have. Also i have a 1.3 breeding colony of leos and they are kept in a 55 gallon breeder tank with papertowels for substrate. I am 16 also, and just because someone is young doesn't mena they are ignorant, although cykadia is. I know kids on here that are 12 or younger that are keeping herps just as good or maybe even better than some 40 yr old dude. I don't proclaim to know it all, nor should any one. Just be carefull what you say about younger folks, after all they are your future:-)

Great tank setup!!!
I agree that paper towels are a great and sanitary substrate! Tank looks fine, and you should have a happy healthy leo.

And I pay for my birds/herps foods!

I am only 14, going into grade 10(late b-day)

AND I am Canadian aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you could be supportive, and just be glad that people take the time to love their pets!!! I noticed, you didn't like when someone commented and your Ball set up...then you go and run your widdle mouth... about things you obvisouly have NO clue about!!!

hey cykada...i see tons of breeders use paper towels.some breeders dont put anything in their cage! just like 5 leos and no hideout,no sand no papertowels...nothing!
i think this cage is fine "BUT", i would put sand in thier because they i like sand more than paper towels.
overall, its fine!
