I want to know where you got her as well - I have always thought it would be cool to keep one as a pet.

Vampy is actually a rescue bat - she is my second one. She will only be with me until spring, when insects are out for her to eat again. She was found trapped in an arena, and separated from her colony. So while she is my "pet" temporarily, she isn't meant to be permanent. She is quite tame with me, but I wouldn't advocate keeping one as a permanent pet. They need to have their colony for their emotional well-being, not to mention they do a LOT of good out there, and are wild animals that do belong in the wild. I know, sermon - but I actually feel GOOD knowing she will be able to be released come spring - she will be a happy little bat then!!

moorear: they're very delicate. they do not very well in captivity and are not for everyone.
