Can anyone tell me what might be going on here? These are two toads I bought from the same pet store, where they were in the same tank together, within about four days of one another. The left I named Cromwell - he came home first, seems healthy, eating well, but I don't know what species s/he(?) is because the store tank said only, "large toads" and I've had no luck yet identifying them from field guides or books about pet amphibians. Anyway, the right toad I brought home tonight. This one is underweight looking, was dehydrated (no water in the store tank anymore, just a heat light over the dry dish). In the photo, the debris in the water is substrate from the store tank that stuck on, but the white spots on the toad are not. This toad has big yellowy-white spots all over the back and face. Since I haven't been able to identify the species, I don't know if the new toad has an infection or disorder of some sort, or if Cromwell and "it" are simply of different ages, genders, or just different naturally occuring color patterns. I would really appreciate any advice or information that anyone might have.
