Keywords: Dino's new enclosure

This is going to be Dino's new enclosure. I am still in the process of making it. I am going to add the lighting, finish the outside of the dresser and add sliding glass doors. I borrowed this idea from a couple of users on the site. I also made the rocks myself.

Well, I have to say, I borrowed this idea from a couple of people in the forum. I made the rocks by shaping some polystyrene and styrofoam, glued them to the back of the enclosure, and covered them with tile grout (5 layers). I am currently in the process of polystrening the enclosure, and after each coat of poly, I am sprinkling a mixture of colored sand on there, then let it dry completely. I cut the backround to size and glued that on, that is polyed also. The floor is actually tile, that I also polyed and covered with sand. It needs to be cleaned up a bit, and spots covered with sand, but I am almost done. Can't wait until it is finished!

Hey Reptichik, that's one of the nicest desert habits I've seen. Also a great idea for recycling some old furniture. How many hours of labor did it take you to get to this point?

Well, I actually have been working on this little by little over the past 3 months. I am not very good w/woodworking, so I had to depend on a friend to help me with that, and he wasn't available too much. As far as the inside, I would say all hours combined, maybe 5-6, but time is needed in between applications of tile grout and polyurethane for it to dry completely, at least overnight for the tile grout, and a few hours on a nice day (outside) for the poly. Once the last finish of poly goes on, I am going to let it dry completely probably for 3 days or so, just to make sure my bearded dragons are going to be safe!

Oh, I forgot, laying the tile took a bit of time also, as it had to set overnight, then be sealed, maybe a couple of days. I should have kept track of my time I spent on it!

Could you post some more pictures of your terrarium once it is set up? I can't wait to see it. Look's like you've done a great job so far!

No problem. I plan to work on it this weekend. Unfortunately I am at the mercy of other to help me with the electrical and the doors, so hopefully I can finish my part this weekend and at least get the lights in!
