I was told this is a 50-55gal breeder tank. I use it for one collard at the moment, hoping to find him (her?) a mate someday.
I'm open to suggestions on improving it. I'm also looking for an innovative way to put the UV light into the tank, but worried that Jimmy may decide it's a nice warm spot & burn himself.

not sure on the size of it but dont worry about him/her sitting on the UV.. All day my 4 collared sit near it and stare at it,, but it's not until after it's gone out do they start to climb on it.

I wouldn't have said the UV's get hot enought to burn him/her anyway.

was easier with my viv as it's wooden to i merely drilled and srewed the tub in place.

the dimensions are 36"L x 18'W x 20"H... I think a modified 50Gal screen would fit on top if the lip of the thing weren't 1.5" wide.

I use a UVB tupe over my iguana's cage and it doesnt burn at all. After it has been on all day, I can put my hand on it and keep it there with no affect.

Unfortunalty, mine gets quite hot to the touch. It's not exactly the right fixture for it, I always have to move the bulb when I turn it on in the a.m. I guess tat's what I get for wanting a larger fixture without the larger price tag (Wally-world purchase of a plant "grow light" fixture used with the reptile UVB bulb).
