I keep finding these in my poolskimmer, most dead. I think its a kingsnake, not sure. living in coastal Georgia. Anyone know for sure?

Pretty sure this is a Scarlet Snake (Cemophora coccinea coccinea). They are non-venemous. To be sure you might want to take one of the dead ones from your pool filter, put it in a plastic bag and take it down to the local Fish & Game.

Thanks for the replies folks. I let this one go back in the woods next to my yard. I killed one a few months ago because I wasn't sure and the grandkids were coming over to swim. couldn't take the chance it might wander back. Question... Is a 'Scarlett snake' the same as a 'Scarlett Kingsnake'? Most snakes don't scare me. The only one that does is a water Moccasin. I steer clear of those. At least a Rattler will let you know when you're too close.

They're close, same Family but differnt Genus. Scarlett Kings have bands that go almost completely around their body and tend to have more yellow where Scarlett Snakes have saddles and tend to have more of a silver/grey background. Most important, especially w/ grandkids, is that both Scarlett Kings and Scarlett Snakes are pretty much harmless. Thank you for asking questions about the snake rather than just blatantly killing it. I'm sure everyone here on Kingsnake appreciates that.
