Nice picture. BE CAREFUL! No matter how gentle & tame they seem to be it's still a wild animal & will react to natural instincts. That goes for the snake also!

dude im sure they have good supervision and that little gal is perfectly fine...plus its their choice if they want to put their kids in danger. im sure he knows that the snake could eat his kid, and the reason he posted isnt to have people tell him that hes an idiot but show how pretty his snake is...dont rag on people...just chill...:)

Not in any of the 50 states of these Unites States of America.

I agree with both sides here, they knew what they were doing and the danger was very little, but also that there was danger and it is a stunt that shouldn't be done.

Think about it, if we can argue the benefits of doing things like this here on our home-turf forums what kind of ruckus does a pic like this cause when it gets out to the people who already want to shut us down.

Unneccessary stunt.. my opinion.

Have to say that I see both sides of this issue as well. This child is not just left unattended with this snake though. The arm in the right hand side of the pic is obviously there to step in at the least sign of trouble. Yes this is risky in the grander scheme of safety but so is putting your child in your car each day and people do that all the time.

So far all the comments focus on the wrong issue. There's nothing wrong with the kids (this pic and the one of her sister) posing with the snake. There are plenty of people around to help. What's foolish is that the kids live in THE SAME HOUSE AS THE SNAKE. Snakes, even this big, are escape artists. No matter how well-built the cage is, the snake could escape sometime. Parents, even careful ones are not perfect. Someone could forget to latch/lock the cage properly. Kids, no matter how well they are taught and how well-behaved they are, get into things they shouldn't. No matter how unlikely it is that one of the kids has an unsupervised encounter with the snake, the potential consequences are too great. When my son was born, I "child-proofed" the apartment. There is no way to eliminate EVERY potential danger in their lives. But, responsible parents make it as safe as possible. If I had owned a snake that could potentially be dangerous to a baby; no matter how difficult to give it up, I would have.

Hmmm...snake or kid.....snake or kid.......snake or............no contest. I'd go for the snake.

Nice pic... Well, to hook into the story... Nothing is wrong with this pic. The owner should know his snake. If this burm had a bad day he wouldn't have taken it out...

And if it DID go wrong, ah well, he would at least have learned not to do this again with his remaining daughter ;-)

Ow, and SssNaKeDuDe, your CAPS-LOCK is on!

Beautiful snake, bad decision. Even if the chance of the snake trying to eat the baby is 1 in a trillion trillion trillion, it's too much to risk in my opinion.

No, I would not let my kid outside if the lightening was striking continously VERY CLOSE TO MY BABY. I have a Burm, I love her, I love snakes, I just don't TRUST them, you cannot predict the behavoir of supposedly intelligent beings we call human, let alone predict the behavoir of reptiles, no matter how docile they have been in the past. If you want to wrap your baby girl with a snake that big, and risk harm being done to your kid and the harm you would have to do to your pet snake to remove it from the baby, go for it. It's not a risk I'M willing to take.

This doesnt look like anything but a "Reptile Show" You know the parties companies such as Prehistoric Pets offer where they will bring a few tame animals for a hands on experience. Many smart people can handle their animals in such a setting. I have done the same thing. I usually have the animals head in my lap as some added insurance. The hand is right near the head, I am sure for the added insurance. The reptile shows are to inform the public about them, also to prove that not all reptiles are feirce beasts.

I personally don't really see anything wrong w/ this pic.....To me it's not any different then letting your kid pose sitting on your pits back =D.....All animals can possibly attack...It's just a risk you take when owning a pet.....And to that one guy NO I wouldnt let my kids play outside in the lightening ;)
